After a year away, the iconic center stripe will return to Paris Saint-Germain’s home kit in the 2022-23 season.

The French Ligue 1 powerhouses unveiled their new home kits on Wednesday, June 29. Like other high-profile European clubs outfitted by Nike, they will use the company new Vaporknit template, with a geometric pattern knit into the fabric.

The kit is mostly navy blue, with the club’s famous vertical stripe – this time a broad white stripe bordered in red – down the center. Before last yearPSG had worn in some iteration since the 1970s, and it’s closely associated with former club president and fashion designer Daniel Hechter.

The stripe is interrupted about halfway down to make room for the logo of PSG’s new shirt sponsor, Qatar Airways. They replace sponsor, ALL – Accor Live Limitless, a company that owns and manages hotels and resorts around the world.

The design “fuses tradition and modernity,” according to the club“Reworking a design that is well known at the Parc des Princes.”

SOUTHAMPTON FC – Home

While the center stripe has returned to PSG’s home kit, it makes one of its first appearances on the home league of Premier League side Southampton FC. Instead of the Saints’ usual red-and-white vertical stripes, this year they’ve gone for one broad vertical red stripe, bordered in black, running down the center of the shirt. This, the club saysis inspired by “the flamboyant and free-flowing Saints side of the early ’80s. ”

The rest of the front features a “contemporary geometric pattern taken from the iconic stanchions of St Mary’s,” the club’s home stadium. The raglan sleeves are solid white, with red Hummel chevrons running down each shoulder. The club crest and manufacturer logo are centered on the chest, and the crew neck collar is black with red trim.

NEWCASTLE UNITED – Third

After unveiling their home kit earlier this month, Premier League side Newcastle United have followed up with their third kit, manufactured by Castore, for 2022. It’s mostly white, with a green V-neck and sleeve cuffs that both have white trim. Sponsor logos and the club crest appear on the chest in one-color green applications. “NUFC” is printed on the back collar in green, along with “130 Years” in green on the lower back.

This kit has garnered criticism since it leaked a few weeks ago since it seems to lift the colors of the Saudi Arabian flag. In October 2021, Newcastle United was sold to a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund for £ 305 million.
