RB Leipzig open to Tyler Adams loan with Leeds interested in USMNT midfielder

US international Tyler Adams could be leaving RB Leipzig, with Leeds United among the clubs interested in signing the midfielder on loan.

The Athletic understands Adams is on the list of central midfielders who Leeds are considering moving for with Kalvin Phillips set to complete his transfer from Elland Road to Manchester City.

Phillips’ pending departure leaves Leeds in the market for a replacement, with Adams among the names that the Yorkshire club have been analyzing in this window.

Marcelo Pitaluga leaves Liverpool on loan

Young Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga has joined Macclesfield FC on a season-long loan deal.

Jurgen Klopp is keen for the 19-year-old Brazilian, who was signed from Fluminense in his homeland in 2020, to gain senior experience.

Pitaluga was fourth choice at Liverpool last season behind Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian.

Macclesfield FC compete in the Northern Premier League Division One West — the eighth tier of English football.

Andrea Belotti leaves Turin after the contract expires

Torino have confirmed Andrea Belotti has left the club following the end of his contract at the Serie A side.

Belotti, 28, leaves the club he captained after spending seven years at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

The Italy international, who has been capped 44 times by his country, scored 113 goals in 251 games for Torino.

Fulham close in on Kristian Sekularac

Fulham are close to signing Kristian Sekularac from Juventus, The Athletic understands.

The 18-year-old will link up with Fulham’s under-21 side after an agreement was reached between the two clubs.

Sekularac has made three appearances for Switzerland’s under-19 side, but counts as a dual-national player in England as he was born in London.

Juventus signed Sekularac from Swiss Super League side Servette in January 2020, and he has since made 30 appearances for Juventus under-19s.

CJ Egan-Riley joins Burnley

Burnley have announced the signing of CJ Egan-Riley from Manchester City on a three-year deal.

The 19-year-old said of his move: “I’m buzzing to be here; happy the deal is over the line and I’m a Burnley player.

“I just can’t wait to get pre-season started and get the season underway.”

And manager Vincent Kompany added: “CJ is a player we have been watching closely for a long time. He is a promising and talented footballer with an excellent mindset and attitude.

“We are delighted that he has agreed to join. CJ has shown a real hunger and he wants to learn and succeed at Burnley. He fits perfectly into our culture and he is a fantastic addition to our squad.”

Egan-Riley becomes Burnley’s third signing of the summer. He follows Scott Twine and Luke McNally to Turf Moor.

Manchester City signed goalkeeper Stefan Ortega on a free transfer from Arminia Bielefeld

Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stefan Ortega on a free transfer from Arminia Bielefeld.

Ortega, 29, has signed a three-year deal at City after his contract with Arminia expired on June 30.

He is expected to act as Ederson’s deputy at City. The Athletic reported on Tuesday that City’s No. 2 for the last two seasons, USMNT international Zack Steffen, is likely to head out on loan.

Celtic sign Filipe Jota from Benfica in £6.4m deal

Filipe Jota has signed for Celtic on a five-year deal following a £6.4 million transfer from Benfica.

The Portuguese giants retain a 30 percent sell-on fee in the deal.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Celtic and was an enormous success, contributing 27 goals and assists combined in 40 games. He became a fan favorite, with chants to “sign him up” permanently being sung around grounds as early as October.

Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia move complicated by representation issue

Manchester United’s bid to sign Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia is being complicated by an issue surrounding his representation in the proposed transfer, The Athletic understands.

United are believed to have reached a full agreement with Feyenoord to recruit the 22-year-old Netherlands international for €15 million plus €2 million in add-ons, as well as a sell-on clause.

That means only personal terms need to be put in place, so currently, the switch remains on track.

Corentin Tolisso returns to Lyon

Tolisso has signed a five-year deal at Lyon, having been released from Bayern Munich at the end of his contract.

The 27-year-old made 118 appearances for Bayern in an injury-plagued five-year stint in Bavaria, having joined from Lyon in 2017.

ICYMI – Tottenham sign Everton forward Richarlison in £60m deal

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Richarlison from Everton in a deal worth up to £60 million, The Athletic understands.

The Brazil striker underwent his medical in Brazil today and will now join the north London club on a five-year deal.

It is understood Everton rejected a £40 million bid for Richarlison on Wednesday before the offer was raised significantly. Another club showed late interest in him but that was not enough to stop Spurs completing the deal.
