Transfer news LIVE! Lewandowski statement, Nkunku comments, Perisic medical, Bastoni to Tottenham in doubt

This week, the transfer window opens.

Tottenham look to be making moves early on with Ivan Perisic undergoing a medical today, with the Croatia star potentially following Fraser Forster through the door.

Their attempts to sign Alessandro Bastoni, however, have hit a stumbling block as the Italian is understood to be leaning towards staying at Inter Milan.

Robert Lewandowski, meanwhile, has made quite the statement. The Bayern Munich story says his story with the club is “over” as links with a move to Barcelona continue.

Sadio Mane has been lined up as his replacement at the Allianz Arena, although the Liverpool forward has reportedly NOT asked to leave Anfield despite claims to the contrary.

Over at Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag could be handed a war-chest of around £ 120m as he attempts what surely has to be quite the rebuild.

Chelsea are believed to have agreed personal terms with Jules Kounde on a five-year contract as the first signing of the Todd Boehly era.

What next for Mark Noble?

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mark Noble, after his retirement brought an end to an 18-year career at West Ham.

He has hinted that he could return to the club at some point, potentially in a coaching role, but there is no confirmation yet of what that could be.

“I do not know yet exactly what the next chapter will hold for me,” Noble said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“Whatever happens though, my connection and bond with West Ham United will never be broken. Playing for and captaining this club has been a privilege, an honor and a dream come true for a young boy from Canning Town. ”

Ben White out of England duty

Arsenal defender Ben White had to pull the England squad for their upcoming Nations League games due to injury.

White has been struggling for fitness towards the end of the season, with a hamstring injury disrupting his final few weeks of the campaign.

The center-back played no part in Arsenal’s last game of the season against Everton, but he was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the two games against Hungary and matches with Germany and Italy next month.

White, however, has now had to pull out of the squad due to injury and he will undergo his rehabilitation at Arsenal.

No replacement has been called up by Southgate and it means he has 26 players for the four games next month.

Ivan Perisic: A game-changer for Tottenham

Tottenham’s capture of Ivan Perisic, who is set to complete a medical and sign a two-year deal on Monday, marks a significant change of direction from the club, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

In signing a 33-year-old with little to no sell-on value on a short-term contract, Daniel Levy has signaled a willingness to hand the keys to the club’s immediate future to managing director Fabio Paratici and head coach Antonio Conte.

As chairman, Levy has established a clear policy of signing young players with sell-on value, only deviating from the model in rare cases, where the commercial value of bringing in a superstar like Edgar Davids or Gareth Bale outweighed the costs of the deal.
