Arsenal and Tottenham have already done the majority of their summer business, but Chelsea look set for a flurry of big deals. The likes of Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries and Frenkie de Jong are the latest potential signings being discussed.
Chelsea are reportedly in direct talks with Barcelona for De Jong and are hopeful of striking a deal, while the Blues have submitted a fresh bid for Brighton’s Cucurella worth more than £50 million. Cesar Casadei is a major target for Chelsea, while Jamie Vardy is linked with a surprise move. In a shock £20m deal, the club confirmed an agreement for Aston Villa wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka last night.
In north London, the Gunners are expected to make a bid for Foxes midfielder Youri Tielemans, while the club are set to loan Hale End wonderkid Charlie Patino to Blackpool. Lucas Paqueta and Cody Gakpo are also still on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist. Tottenham, meanwhile, are linked with Zaniolo’s Roma team-mate, though could turn to Adama Traore if that doesn’t come off. Done deal! Arsenal loan out Balogun again
Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has completed his latest loan exit, heading to France to join Reims.
The 21-year-old will spend the entire 2022/23 campaign in Ligue 1, having been pushed further down the attacking pecking order at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta.
At one stage, it had looked like Balogun could be set for a huge opportunity over the summer and in the early stages of the new season, with Arsenal seemingly resigned to losing both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah on free transfers having also bid farewell to former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in February.
However, while Lacazette eventually left for former club Lyon, Nketiah performed a contract U-turn after a strong end to last season and was quickly joined by the £45 million arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Balogun went on to play a bit-part role for Arsenal during pre-season, coming off the bench in the friendly win over Nurnberg in Germany but failing to register an appearance on their successful tour of the United States.

Neves coy on Man United links
Manchester United could turn their focus to Ruben Neves if a move for Frenkie de Jong does not materialize.
Neves continues to be put forward as an alternative option, with Chelsea now reportedly interested in De Jong, and the Wolves midfielder refused to rule out a move earlier this summer.
“Everyone knows about what football is about, what our lives are about,” Neves told The Athletic. “Our careers are really short, we need to take the opportunities we have.
“Of course, all of us have dreams and we need to live those dreams in a short space of time. Let’s see what happens. I cannot say too much about it.”
Chelsea betting big on youth
Chelsea’s pursuit of two of the best young talents in Europe is part of a mantra from their new owners to give people they believe in what they want, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Their academy was already being overhauled by its boss Neil Bath as part of a ‘Vision 2030’ strategy and the club is now signing players for the future who he has recommended.
Carney Chukwuemeka will become the highest-paid teenager in English football, laying down a marker for the club’s strength and strategy.
The 18-year-old, Gabriel Slonina and Omari Hutchinson have been sold a pathway into the first team, with sources indicating there will be more similar expensive youth signings.

PSG interested in Silva
PSG could join the race for Bernardo Silva.
Barcelona have been linked with the Manchester City midfielder as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong, should the Dutchman leave the club this summer.
However, Foot Mercato reports that PSG are also interested in Silva and could rival Barcelona for him in the weeks ahead. It’s likely to cost either club close to €85m.
Wijnaldum set for Roma move
Gini Wijnaldum is close to agreeing a move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma side.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Roma will pay PSG €5m as part of Wijnaldum’s salary, with the former Liverpool midfielder expected to join on loan with an option to buy next summer.
It has not worked out for Wijnaldum at PSG, so he will be hoping to make an impact in Italy.
Sevilla push again for Reguilon
Sevilla are planning one last attempt to bring Sergio Reguilon back to the club.
The left-back is expected to leave Tottenham this summer and Mundo Deportivo report that Sevilla are desperate to seal a deal for Reguilon, who spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the club.
Reguilon himself is said to be putting pressure on Spurs to lower their demands and let him join the club. Sevilla are close to wrapping up a loan deal for Alex Telles, but would prefer to get Reguilon if possible.
Chelsea offer Fofana huge wages
Chelsea are willing to offer Wesley Fofana £200,000-a-week should he join the club this summer.
Leicester are holding out for at least £85m and are reluctant to sell the centre-back, but it’s likely they will sell at least one of their stars in the coming weeks.
Chelsea are hoping to persuade Fofana to leave the Foxes, and the Daily Mail reports that the Blues have lined up a huge salary should an agreement be reached with Leicester over the fee.
Man United consider Dest move
Manchester United are interested in a move for full-back Sergino Dest.
Barcelona are keen to offload some players this summer, as they look to end a number of signings, and Sport claim that the club would be willing to accept a bid of €20m for Dest.
The 21-year-old played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, so it’s no surprise to see United keeping tabs on the situation.
Tottenham back in for Zaniolo
Tottenham are prepared to make a new attempt to sign Nicolo Zaniolo.
La Repubblica reports that Spurs are refusing to give up on the Roma man, despite a valuation in the region of €60m.
It’s claimed that Tottenham were willing to include Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele in a potential deal, but Jose Mourinho rejected this and asked for Oliver Skipp instead. Spurs do not want to include Skipp though.
Ramsdale given No1 shirt
Aaron Ramsdale will wear the No1 shirt for Arsenal after the goalkeeper was given a new squad number ahead of the Premier League season getting underway.
Bernd Leno previously had the number, despite being back-up to Ramsdale, but with the German’s move to Fulham now confirmed, that has been freed up.
The Gunners have wasted little time in announcing the change, with Ramsale moving from his previous number 32.
