Manchester United are ready to push through with their efforts to bring Adrien Rabiot to Old Trafford amid reports a tempting fee has been placed on the Frenchman’s head.
United boss Erik ten Hag is looking to remodel his side ahead of the new season – and clearly faces a tough task. Indeed, with their rivals all strengthening around them, the Red Devils are yet to register their first business of the summer. Furthermore, Ten Hag has also seen a number of midfielders depart Old Trafford in the meantime.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are the quartet to leave so far – and more departures could be on the way. As such, the need to bring in at least one new midfielder is high on Ten Hag’s ‘to-do’ list.
The Red Devils, of course, are being strongly linked with Frenkie de Jong. Any deal for the Dutchman, however, looks complicated with Barcelona demanding a huge fee. To that end, CEO Richard Arnold came out and explained the delay in announcing his signing.
United are also keen on Christian Eriksen; the Dane a free agent with his Brentford deal expiring.
However, those hopes too also look up in smoke with Eriksen seemingly against the idea of moving to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag, though, may well have more joy in pursuing a deal for Rabiot.
The France midfielder has been a regular at Juventus since a free-transfer switch in 2019. But, with just a year left on his deal, Rabiot looks to be on the move this summer.
Adrien Rabiot price comes to light
To that end, United, along with Newcastle and Chelsea, were all mentioned as candidates to sign the France midfielder over the weekend.
Of the trio, it’s now suggested that United have a very ‘serious’ wish to bring Rabiot to Old Trafford.
As per Tuttosportthe 27-year-old is also looking to move on this summer, enhancing United’s hopes of a deal.
He would have to accept a pay cut were he to sign a new deal in Turin, something he’s seemingly unwilling to do.
And with Juventus willing to cash in, United may well have a clear path in any push to land the star.
Furthermore, the Italian newspaper has further good news for Ten Hag with Juventus sticking a modest price on Rabiot’s head.
They claim the Bianconeri are seeking around .2 17.2m (€ 20m) for the player – a fee easily within United’s reach.
Indeed, Tuttosport strongly believes a move to United looks to be on the cards for Rabiot. Noting how Rabiot is’ tempting ‘many clubs from the Premier League, they state’ especially Manchester United‘as prime candidates for his signature.
Signing will not excite United supporters
Truth be told, the addition of Rabiot alone to their midfield will not be one that truly excites supporters. While a very useful midfielder, he’s not the big name that United crave.
That said, operating at the midfield base, he does look an upgrade on both Fred and Scott McTominay. Furthermore, he might just knit the side together a little better, striking the right balance between defense and
And with deals for De Jong and Eriksen seemingly hitting brick walls, Rabiot may well be the easiest one to land. As such, for the money involved, and – if the wages are right – it might not be a bad deal to pursue.
Rabiot to leave Juventus for cut-price fee with Premier League clubs interested
Juventus will let Rabiot leave this summer for cut price with Newcastle, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all interested
The 29-times capped France midfielder has made 129 appearances over three seasons at Juventus, scoring six times. Always liked by Massimiliano Allegri and, before that, Andrea Pirlo, Adrien Rabiot started 39 times for Juve in 2021/22.
Indeed, Allegri is very much opposed to his sale this summer. However, with market forces dictating his departure, Juve’s loss may well prove to be United’s gain.
United, meanwhile, are also well placed to sign Antony, with a report revealing the final fee the Red Devils will require.
