Paul Pogba to re-sign for Juventus ‘at the beginning of July’, turning down chance to join Man City and Paris Saint-Germain following ill-fated six-year return to Manchester United

Paul Pogba is to complete his return to Juventus, it has been reported, six years after leaving them for Manchester United in an £ 89million transfer.

The France international is understood to have penned a four-year contract at the club, turning down the chance to join Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the process.

The 29-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Old Trafford following the expiry of his contract, marking the second time he has left the Premier League side for nothing.

But it looks like he won’t be for much longer with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano saying his return to Juventus is a done deal.

Romano tweeted: “Paul Pogba to Juventus, confirmed and here we go! Full agreement now completed on a free transfer.

“Deal to be signed at the beginning of July, it’s done and sealed.

“Pogba will be in Italy in two weeks. Juve sold him for € 100m six years ago – now he’s back for free. ”

Pogba’s first spell with Juventus started in 2012 when he rejected a new deal under Sir Alex Ferguson, with a tribunal forcing Juve to pay £ 800,000 in compensation for the midfielder, who was 19 at the time.

What followed was arguably the most successful period in his career as the midfielder made 178 appearances for the Old Lady, scoring 34 times and creating another 40.

That form helped Juve to four Serie A titles, a spot in the Champions League final and earned Pogba an £ 89m move back to Old Trafford where he showed his quality in fits and starts.

He enjoyed success with the French national team as a Man United player having played a key role in Les Bleus winning the 2018 World Cup.

However, after bringing his six-year spell with United to a close, Pogba will be determined to get his career back on track.
