Man Utd’s worst ever Premier League season

Manchester United are less than a week away from bringing down the curtain on their horrid Premier League campaign this season, as they desperately aim to reach the summer transfer window in which they can begin their much anticipated rebuild.

Paul Pogba is one of the players who is expected to leave this summer but has already drawn a transfer battle between two of Europe’s heavyweights for his signature, while new manager Erik ten Hag has been advised to sign a certain West Ham United starlet to solve one of his issues in the squad.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United headlines.

Pogba exit draws closer amid new transfer battle

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is at the center of a transfer battle between Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, having opened talks with both clubs after deciding to leave United as a free agent this summer following the end of his second spell at Old Trafford.

The France World Cup-winner’s United deal runs out next month and the 29-year-old has rejected the chance to sign a new one and extend his stay with the club. Despite an underwhelming six-year spell at United, Pogba is not short of options and faces a choice between PSG and a return to former club Juventus.

PSG remain desperate to win the Champions League and believe Pogba could help them finally conquer Europe, following the acquisitions of superstar front three Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. But Juve, who sold Pogba to United for £ 89million in 2016, are also in negotiations with Pogba, in the hope of luring him back to Turin.

Ten Hag advised to sign Bowen to solve issue

Erik ten Hag has been urged to snap up West Ham star Jarrod Bowen to resolve Manchester United’s issues on the right-hand side of their attack, as part of the mammoth rebuilding job that awaits him at Old Trafford.

And Andy Townsend has tipped Bowen to be the perfect solution to United’s right-wing conundrum. The 25-year-old has been in sizzling form for the Hammers this year, netting 18 goals and laying on 13 assists – and Townsend believes Bowen would be perfect to lead the rebuild at Old Trafford.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Townsend said: “Jarrod Bowen has been great. He’s been so good lately. I tell you what, I bet you West Ham get a bid or two for him in the summer, I bet they do. Would you have him at Manchester United? Like a shot you would. He can play anywhere. I’ve seen him play up the middle for West Ham, on one side. For United, he’d get in the team wherever he likes! I would play him off the right-hand side. “

Man Utd told how to secure Antony signing

Former Manchester United left-back Daley Blind has warned Premier League sides that Ajax will not accept a penny less than their asking price for Antony this summer, with United having been linked with a move for the Brazilian wideman since Erik ten Hag was announced as the next permanent manager at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Andy van der Meijde on YouTube, Blind said: “A few players are already leaving on a free transfer, so I do not think Ajax will let players go that easily. You have to have a team next year that will compete again in the Champions League and for the title. If the main price is paid for Haller or Antony, then Ajax will accept it, but I do not think Ajax wants to sell many players. I hope most of them just stay. ”

Antony has certainly sparkled at Ajax since arriving from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2020. The 22-year-old has 79 appearances to his name in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and assisting the same number in that time.
