Liverpool Could Be Handed Triple Injury Boost Ahead of Real Madrid Clash

Liverpool are a few days away from their final game of a stellar campaign, where they lock horns with Real Madrid in the Champions League Final on Saturday in Paris. After Wednesday’s training session the manager shared some positive news on some injury doubts.

Following the end of the season victory over Wolves at Anfield where Liverpool saw the quadruple slip away as they ended second place to Manchester City, their focus shifted to Europe’s biggest club competition, the Champions League.

The biggest worry for them on the route to the Stade de France was injuries to three of their key players: Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, and Thiago Alcântara, all of whom are regular starters for the Anfield side.

On Monday it was believed that Thiago was having a scan taken on his issue while Fabinho’s match fitness was still questionable; basically making it crystal clear that they have a race against time to be fit.

Liverpool’s key midfielders Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara both face a worrying race against time to be fit for their final clash of the season when they meet Real Madrid in the Champions League Final on Saturday in Paris.

Liverpool are set to be without Thiago Alcantara for the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Fabinho is also said to be a fitness doubt.

Thiago will undergo a scan on Monday to establish the extent of the problem, but is a serious doubt to face Real Madrid in Saturday’s showdown in Paris, as per Goal.

Jurgen Klopp confirms that Thiago could still make the final against Madrid

Liverpool’s most recent training involved Fabinho, which was one of the most promising signs of the week so far. When he missed the final league game and van Dijk remained sat on the bench as an unused used substitution, further concerns grew over the pair’s respective injury setbacks.

Now Fabinho joins VVD in outdoor training, charging their batteries for the final. The second bit of hope came when the Merseyside boss confirmed that Thiago, the latest injury victim, stands a “good chance” of playing the final after scans revealed it is not as bad as first feared.

After creating the first goal for Liverpool in their 3-1 win over Wolves, Thiago was removed from the game in the 46th minute for an Achilles problem. Thankfully, he will be available for full training later in the week, Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp says Thiago Alcantara has “a good chance” of being fit for Liverpool’s Champions League final with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard suffered an Achilles injury in Sunday’s Premier League win over Wolves, and was not part of an open training session at Kirkby on Wednesday.

However, Klopp later confirmed the 31-year-old was set to resume training on Thursday in what will be a huge boost to the Reds ahead of Saturday’s clash in Paris.

Liverpool needs their best midfielder available for selection

Klopp will need his best players available if they do not want to redo 2018’s loss against Real Madrid. If their comeback win against Manchester City in the semi-finals is anything to go by, then the Reds have their work cut out for them.

This season has brought out the best in Alcântara and missing him would be a massive blow; even just having him on the bench as an option is important for more than just a morale boost. Fabinho has been missing since the Villa win and the lack of control in the middle of the park is sometimes evident when he is not around.

They are quite important to the team and over the course of the season, it was easy to notice Klopp preferring a midfield three that consisted of Fabinho and Thiago as two of the three in the middle while whoever else was in the best form of the other first-choice center-mids, would get the nod for the last spot.

If they are all fit, who do you think Jurgen Klopp should play as his midfield three?
