Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp unhappy with Aston Villa situation ahead of crunch Man City clash

Jurgen Klopp admits it is’ unlikely ‘that his Liverpool side will be crowned Premier League champions this weekend and has signalled his frustration that Aston Villa face a quick turnaround in fixtures heading into the final day clash with the Reds’ title rivals Manchester City.

Steven Gerrard’s side can hand Liverpool a huge opportunity to win their second Premier League trophy by preventing City from winning at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon. Klopp’s men would have to beat their opponents Wolves and hope Villa can pull off an upset against Pep Guardiola’s champions.

Villa will go into the final day having only had two days of rest following their clash with Burnley at Villa Park on Thursday evening. And Klopp admits that Liverpool’s chances to win the league this season are slim as a result.

Pep Guardiola fires warning to Steven Gerrard ahead of crunch Man City clash

Pep Guardiola has warned Aston Villa that his Manchester City side will give “all of their lives” to win the Premier League title this weekend.

Steven Gerrard’s men could play a significant role in the title race as City host Villa in desperate need of three points on Sunday. Only a win will do for Guardiola as Liverpool are one point off top spot coming into the final weekend of the season.

The Reds beat Southampton 2-1 at St. Mary’s on Tuesday night to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 18 games and they must also win on Sunday afternoon to convert their slim chances of becoming champions into reality. Jurgen Klopp’s side host Wolves at Anfield, while City face Villa at the Etihad, and boss Guardiola has promised that his players will leave nothing on the pitch in protecting their top-flight crown.

Aston Villa have ‘discussed’ free agent as Steven Gerrard identifies transfer priority

Aston Villa have reportedly ‘discussed’ the possibility of signing Burnley center-half James Tarkowski, as Steven Gerrard looks ahead to a busy summer transfer window.

Tarkowski, 29, will become a free agent as his current deal at Burnley looks set to expire at the end of this season, with several Premier League clubs said to be circling for his signature.

Aston Villa are braced for fresh transfer interest in John McGinn, with reports claiming Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign the Scot this summer.

McGinn, 27, has been a mainstay in Villa’s starting line-up since he arrived for just £ 2.5million from Hibernian back in 2018. He scored the goal which clinched promotion and he has made his mark in the Premier League over the past three years .

But McGinn’s performances in claret and blue haven’t gone unnoticed and Spurs manager Antonio Conte has apparently taken a shine to the midfielder.
