Dean Jones has claimed that Frank Lampard will attempt to sit down with Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja to discuss their futures at Chelsea.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones backed the Everton boss to at least try and capture the imagination of the two loanees sent away by Thomas Tuchel last summer.
After just avoiding a meteoric relegation from the Premier League, Lampard will certainly be looking to improve the squad that squeezed over the line at the death.
Plenty of positions require tinkering, particularly in defense, where goals were leaked with unwanted regularity.
But general quality all over the pitch is going to be needed if the Toffees are to say clear of the drop zone.
Hence why Lampard might want to raid his former club for the treasures they have stored away in their chest.
Although, Chelsea handed out several golden items at the beginning of the season, allowing them to shine elsewhere across the country.
Glittering Gallagher, bronze Broja
Gallagher can certainly look back at his time with Crystal Palace as the moment his career moved to another level.
He only missed five league games in total, scoring eight goals and providing three assists along the way.
The 22-year-old is now an established member of the England camp as well, thanks to regular energetic and enthusiastic domestic performances.
Travel two hours south and another Chelsea academy product had a campaign to remember.
Broja might’ve tailed off in the final few months, but his nine goals for Southampton cannot be sniffed at.
Having never previously tasted top-flight football in England before, the striker quickly adapted to the division, giving defences all kinds of problems.
Lampard will chat with Gallagher and Broja
Both Borja and Gallagher could easily reclaim a spot in Tuchel’s side, but would also be handy additions for pretty much any Premier League club.
Especially one like Everton, who knows the importance of signing quality over quantity.
“Lampard will fall back on what he knows and what he’s good at – that’s going back to Chelsea and looking at players he knew in the set-up there,” said Jones.
“With the Conor Gallagher situation and Armando Broja, they’ll definitely be two players that he will look to have conversations with over what he sees the future being for them at Chelsea.”
For Gallagher, returning to Chelsea is an extremely likely outcome.
The same cannot exactly be said for Broja, who still has Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz to contend with in the center-forward department.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling for fitness at Goodison Park, perhaps linking up with Lampard wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world.
