Sevilla have rejected the chance to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, who spent the second half of the season on loan in Spain.
The Frenchman will now return to Old Trafford, with a big question mark over his future at the Premier League giants.
Martial joined Julen Lopetegui’s squad during the January transfer window as he looked for more game time.
He played 12 games in all competitions for the LaLiga side but scored just one goal, which resulted in him being jeered by his own fans.
And now Sevilla have confirmed they will not be considering a permanent deal for the Frenchman, who will now return to his parent club.
“Anthony Martial will return to Man United,” said club president Jose Castro.
“We spent important money on him but it did not work.
“Also, he had injuries and we’re not going to buy him on a permanent deal.”

The Red Devils signed Martial, who was tipped to be the next big thing, for £ 54million in 2015 but the forward has never really lived up to potential.
After a bright start, scoring a goal on his debut against Liverpool, he steadily fell out of favor under a succession of managers at the club.
Martial has managed 79 goals in 269 games in all competitions since moving to Manchester.
Now 26, Martial will return to Man United with the intention of impressing new boss Erik ten Hag, who he will be hoping can help revive his career.
But, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford ahead of him, and more signings expected following Ten Hag’s appointment, the French forward’s future at Old Trafford is unclear.
