Hector Bellerin dropped a transfer hint as he posted an emotional message to Real Betis fans ahead of his return to Arsenal.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a successful season on loan to his boyhood club Real Betis, helping the LaLiga side win the Copa del Rey – their first major trophy in 17 years.

However, the 27-year-old is set to return to north London following Betis’s goalless stalemate against Real Madrid on the final day of the LaLiga season last Friday.

Betis president Haro has confirmed that Bellerin will be returning to Arsenal after his loan spell in Spain despite his side’s desire to keep him at the club.

Ahead of his return to the Emirates, the full-back shared a heartfelt message with the Betis supporters on social media, describing his stint at Benito Villamarin as a ‘dream come true’.

‘Even if I tried I’m finding it very difficult to express what this year has meant to me,’ he said.

‘There are no words I can find to describe my feelings, so hopefully, these pictures will help you all understand.

‘Thanks to everyone in the Betis universe for helping me fall in love again with this sport, for all your passion and for making me feel like one of your own from the start.

‘I want to thank my teammates for their kindness, humility, and love since I stepped into the dressing room. You have made me feel like I’ve been a part of this way longer than I have.

He added: ‘Thanks to all the coaching and medical staff, for their trust and their work, but also to everyone behind the scenes at the club whose work goes unnoticed.

‘Thank you to the board and directors for believing in me and helping make a dream of mine come true, a dream that has exceeded all expectations I had when I made my way to the Villamarin.

And of course, thanks to my family and my people for their unconditional love and support and for introducing me from early to this passion called Betis. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU and I hope we can meet again. Viva el Betis. ‘

Bellerin’s deal with the Gunners is set to expire in June 2023 and with Cedric Soares and Takehiro Tomiyasu already at boss Mikel Arteta’s disposal on the right flank, he could be set for another departure from the club.

Bellerin appears to have grown particularly found of Betis and was visibly emotional after playing his final home game against Granada on May 15.

He was embraced by team-mates Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal, but then could not help but let the tears flow after his parents joined him on the pitch.

Bellerin’s affection for Betis is clear and in January he talked about how much he was enjoying his loan spell.

‘All my family supported Betis, he said. ‘Everyone at home followed them, my dad and I were die-hard supporters. There’s an energy in the stadium that’s difficult to describe, it’s fantastic.

‘It’s wonderful to be able to share the amazing atmosphere with the fans. The supporters here have so much respect for the players, they love football and the club. ‘
