Raheem Sterling has moved up the list of priorities for Chelsea this summer as they look to bolster their attacking line. A move now for the winger seems almost inevitable after the Blues’ manager’s “positive talks” with the Manchester City player.
Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, is said to have held positive talks with Raheem Sterling as the latter pounders on an exit from the Etihad. Sterling, whose contract expires at the end of next season, has been the subject of a transfer away from Man City and a renewal contract with his current employers.

Midway during the last Premier League run out where Manchester City was crowned champions of England for the second time in as many years and the sixth time in the club’s history, there were talks that Man City were not in a rush to sort out Sterling’s contract.
Since then, it has been widely reported that Sterling could want a change of scenery and a new challenge in his football career. Because of this Chelsea have been linked with a possible transfer for the England international.
City, since the window has opened, wanted to initiate talks about contract renewal while at the same time telling any possible Sterling suitors that the player will cost them £ 60m upwards.
With Lukaku Out Replacements Are Required to Step in at Chelsea
Chelsae has a plethora of attackers in their squad but quite frankly, none are said to be up to Thomas Tuchel’s standards. One attacker has already made arrangements to leave after just one season of playing in Tuchel’s system. That player is none other than Romelu Lukaku.
With Lukaku’s loan move to Inter Milan almost at the announcement stages, the Blues have made it public that a new target man is needed at Stamford Bridge. Furthermore, they will not necessarily look for a like-for-like replacement but rather a more suitable target to fit in with Tuchel’s tactics.
Added to Lukaku’s early departure, Chelsea has transfer-listed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with Christian Pulisic’s stay also a doubt for next season. So fair to say the Blues will need more world-class attackers if they are going to challenge Man City and Liverpool for top honors this season.
Raheem Sterling Will Be More Than Tempted by Tuchel Talks
Sterling wants to remain an important figure for whomever he is playing for. At 27 years old, he still believes he has more to offer and can elevate his game to a new level.
Last season, Raheem Sterling missed out on some important outings, not starting against Real Madrid in their semi-final UCL losses and league games against Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
In the first part of the campaign, Sterling was not used as often as he normally would be by Pep Guardiola, with him mostly joining the game by coming on from the bench. This led to speculations that he could be a surplus of requirements at the Etihad.
This is where Tuchel and Chelsea can win the race for the winger who has scored 91 goals and assisted another 43 in 193 Premier League starts for City. They can offer that importance that Sterling needs and they can offer the room for him to grow and upgrade his game.
Raheem Sterling feels he can still elevate his game, which can only be achieved if he is viewed as a decisive contributor in the starting XI, according to Sky Sports’ senior reporter Melissa Reddy 📈 pic.twitter.com/Up2DGPqHrr

Chelsea Are Yet to Open Formal Talks With Manchester City for Raheem Sterling
As per Sky Sports: there have been no negotiations as of yet and the winger is still deciding on his near and far future. They further state that any decision made by the Englishman will be based on “football ambitions”.
Following the optimistic chats with the Blues boss, this could soon change and talks could start between the two English powerhouses. Other clubs always mentioned being interested in signing him besides Chelsea are Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid; but it is Chelsea who are the frontrunners.
