Erling Haaland and Aaron Ramsey will both miss the Europa League play-off second leg tie between Borussia Dortmund and Rangers at Ibrox.

The Germans had hoped the Norwegian talisman would feature following his return to training last week, however it is now understood he has not traveled to Scotland with the Dortmund squad

The Bundesliga club will be looking to bounce back following a 4-2 defeat in the first leg.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side shocked the Bundesliga giants in the first leg, going three goals to the good by the 49th minute before a comeback, of sorts, from Dortmund.

Whilst a turn around is in certainly still in reach, the news that the 21-year-old will not be on hand to help will come as a big blow for Marco Rose’s hopes of progressing into the round of 16.

According to German outlet Kicker, Van Bronckhorst’s family friend Giovanni Reyna will also remain sidelined along with Haaland.

However, it’s not all bad news for Dortmund. Second and third highest goal scorers Marco Reus and Jude Bellingham are available for the tie, brightening the German club’s hopes of a qualifying to the next stage of the competition.

In addition to this, right-back Thomas Meunier could return after the experienced former Paris Saint-Germain man traveled with the team to Scotland.

This will be a huge boost for Rose in their effort to avoid leaking further goals given the absence of defenders Manuel Akanji and Dan-Axel Zagadou.

Meanwhile, the Rangers also face an injury blow in the form of Juventus loanee Ramsey.

Van Bronckhorst confirmed at his pre-match conference that the Welshman will miss out on Thursday’s game at Ibrox.

Ramsey had been a doubt following his absence from the Scottish Premiership game against Dundee United due to a minor knock and it is now confirmed the midfielder will not return for in his side’s final push to make it into the hat for the next round.

However the Rangers boss did confirm that there were no other fresh injuries to report ahead of the tie.

The second-leg clash at Ibrox will take place this Thursday at 8pm and coverage of Friday’s round of 16 draw will be live on talkSPORT at 12pm.
