New Real Madrid signing Aurelien Tchouameni has appeared to confirm that Kylian Mbappe is now playing a part in Paris Saint-Germain’s recruitment process.
Mbappe opted to sign a three-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions, keeping him in the French capital until 2025. That deal ensured he would not be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, as many had expected – with suggestions that he had given his word to the Spanish giants that he would be joining them this year.
It comes less than 12 months after the French club rejected a world record transfer offer from Los Blancos for the striker, whose contract at the Parc des Princes had been due to expire on 30 June. Last month, the striker said that the decision on his future will be announced “in a matter of days” and it subsequently brought an end to a long-running saga.
Mbappe was said to have a verbal agreement in place to join Madrid earlier this season and the striker had hinted at a move to the Spanish capital while a recent interview suggested that he had been open to leaving France. However, that move did not materialize and he has now penned a lucrative deal in Paris with French president Emmanuel Macron telling him to remain in Ligue 1.
One of the most noticeable aspects around his new deals were the reports that Mbappe would hold great sway in the club’s sporting decisions as part of his new deal. This would include giving the striker a say on which players should be signed alongside decisions on managers and sporting directors.
Indeed, the arrival of Luis Campos in a sports advisor role are said to have been particularly supported by Mbappe, who holds a close relationship with him following their time together at Monaco. The striker is also particularly keen for Zinedine Zidane to be appointed as the club’s next boss.

New Madrid signing Tchouameni – the midfielder who has arrived from Monaco is a France international teammate of Mbappe – has now explained how the striker phoned him in an attempt to make him join the Parc des Princes this summer.
Tchouameni claimed at his introductory Real Madrid press conference on Tuesday: “Kylian decided to stay at PSG and he already knew that I was going to leave Monaco and wanted to know if I could go to PSG, but I told him I wanted Madrid and he understood perfectly. “
Speaking of his decision to move to the Spanish capital, he added: “As soon as Real Madrid arrived on the scene, I did not hesitate. I want to leave a mark on football and the best club for this is Real Madrid. It’s the best decision for me. ” The star midfielder has moved to the Spanish capital for a fee in the region of £ 68million, including add-ons and is their second signing of the summer following on from the arrival of defender Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea.
