Jesus transfer alternative eyed

Arsenal are reportedly looking for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as an alternative to Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.

It comes following reports that north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Brazilian forward Jesus, with Arsenal yet to meet City’s £ 50m valuation for the striker. With Spurs able to offer Champions League football after beating Arsenal to the Premier League’s fourth spot last season, they could have an advantage in the race to sign Jesus.

That could lead Arsenal to bid for Morata, who reportedly wants a move away from Atleti due to his poor relationship with manager Diego Simeone.

Raphinha’s transfer stance

Leeds United star Raphinha is in no rush to seal a move to Arsenal as he is holding out for a switch to Barcelona.

The Brazilian has already agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants, but Barca do not want to meet Leeds’ £ 60million valuation of the winger. That has led to reports that the Gunners and Spurs have entered the race for his signature with both sides linked with bidding for the player.

But the player himself would still prefer to move to Barcelona, and will give his time before making a decision in the hope they come in for him before the end of the summer transfer window.
