Joao Felix is yet another player Tottenham and Arsenal have both been linked with this summer. The 22-year-old is currently an Atletico Madrid player and has made 23 appearances for the Spanish side last season.
Atletico finished third in La Liga in the 2021/22 campaign and Felix scored eight goals and registered four assists, in his league features. The striker also already has Champions League experience, making 25 appearances in the European competition, in his career so far and would appear to be an astute signing for anyone.
Spurs have already had a successful start to the summer window, making three signings within two weeks of the opening day. And Felix already has a range of skills which would be beneficial to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham side.

Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma’s moves to N17 are all beneficial for the Lilywhites, but upgrades in the attacking half are still required, which is where the Portuguese international could come in.
Not only does Felix have creative qualities that would be a boost in Conte’s squad, the 22-year-old has the key quality of versatility. Last season, the Madrid man made 16 appearances as a second-striker, 15 as a center-forward and a couple on each wing.
The forward is valued at up to £ 103.2million, according to the CIES Football Observatory, so it would be a big deal for Tottenham to secure. However, if Felix is able to play in multiple positions, this would mean the Italian will need fewer incomings to fulfill other positions.
Spurs also do have the benefit of ENIC’s £ 150million investment and any money they make from incomings, so a large sum could be afforded. Felix has been praised by his current boss, Diego Simeone and it will be exactly the comments Conte would want to hear.
“Joao Felix meets what the team needs,” Simeone admitted, in March. “We have a way of working with the forwards. He’s doing very well, he’s happy, enthusiastic and it’s very important on an individual level so that he can later move on to the collective, which is what matters.”
The 22-year-old has clearly shown signs of commitment and willingness to improve, but also has experience playing in various competitions, which is a likely boost for the Italian. And if the Atletico Madrid man does make the move to N17, he could follow in the footsteps of a certain Chelsea star who has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.
Felix has previously been compared to England international Mason Mount, with former Arsenal youth product saying mentioning his name in a conversation with the Atletico man. Felix admitted last year: “I like the way he [Mount] plays, the way he likes to drag the ball, the way he touches the ball. I played with Chris Willock in Benfica three or four years ago and he told me that Chelsea has a guy that he sees who is similar to me and he told me it was Mason Mount.
“A few years later he appeared in Chelsea and I like the way he plays. Chris had told me about him before he appeared in the Premier League, so I was waiting to see him.”
The 22-year-old being able to play up front will help Tottenham in finding a back-up to Harry Kane. It is something Spurs have struggled with and is an issue for many players, who do not want to move to a club where they know they will be second choice.
However, if a player like Felix made the move to north London, he could fill in for the 28-year-old when needed, but also play in various other roles. In March, football.londonreported Arsenal’s interest in the Portugal international, but there was no way the 22-year-old was going to leave Madrid then.
According to BarcaTimes, Felix’s agent has been in contact with a number of clubs and a move away now looks more likely. Therefore if Tottenham did want to pursue a deal for the striker, they would have competition from their north London rivals and clubs across the world.
